How long time using just(mostly) the terminal, without anything related with X(sometimes)!!!
Yes, around 4 months.
But now im missing GUI newbie times haha ;)
That's nice(except for 210+ packages added to my "world" list), compile it all spent some time(some hours).
I almost arrived a little goal that i had, that was just to use the system just throught the terminal, but i needed a good framebuffer image viewer and the text browsers didn't process well all websites(some websites are trully apps in javascripts! ajax hehe), so i had to get back to the old newbie scene, learning the stuff slowly haha.
Right now im using the epiphany, but if i want to be using gnome for more time, i want to use the new firefox.
Latter im going to try KDE, test the konkeror.
The only reason sometimes i claim about xorg or a complete desktop sutff it's because its size and complexity that is to port it to a mobile platform.Today we have HD's with great capacity, but it's for data, not the OS.The OS + basic apps should not be so big, our data/contents are more important on my view.
The people were talking about mono being added to the dependencies of gnome, let's see if its here ....
no, its not ;)
Now i guess that i really passed the old feeling about linux(newbie feeling) that are too many things(thats bad??!!!) for you learn, yes there is, but you dont have to do it "now", focus on what you want, just get the basic stuff you need to work, then you will be there.
Im very patient now, i cant go, test software A, B, C, D, etc. not thinking about "for what more one software... blablabal", no, they have their values and i say thanks, now i see the light boy LOL.Im sure i can't skip the phrase "oh dam, for what ...", but at this moment im fine with all apps i have found(wow take a long time to think like that...dam...).
... ya, lets test other softwares, i found some people that make nice stuff :]
